STRANGLER NATION - PRESS RELEASE
Late last week we were contacted by the South Side Strangler #1 with some very disappointing news.
Strangler #1 has been injured and his team of doctors has forbid him to return to professional wrestling for an undetermined period of time.
On Oct 21, 2007, Strangler #1 was in the middle of a high impact workout as he was preparing for an inevitable tag-title shot for GCW (Great Canadian Wrestling). This multi-time CWE (Canadian Wrestling Entertainment) and PWA (Pure Wrestling Association) tag-team champion felt that the executive committee of GCW was holding the Stranglers back despite their impressive win record. The South Side Stranglers had enough and made the challenge on Oct 19, 2007 in the middle of the ring at GCW's "Fright Night" event. After another impressive victory, the Stranglers declared themselves as the rightful #1 contenders for the GCW tag-team straps and demanded a title shot. Strangler #1 even went so far as to show how serious he was by quitting drinking and declaring sobriety until they received their title shot.
A newly sober Strangler #1 was in the middle of a very high impact workout on Oct 21, 2007 when he ripped not one, but both of his biceps. His personal physician confirmed a tear of both biceps and will not let him to return to the wrestling ring in the near future. "I will be out for a minimum of the rest of 2007", declared the Strangler when asked for comment. "I'm just taking this one day at a time and my job right now is to rehab and get healthy so I can come back and lay a beating on some poor sucker", he continued.
What does this mean for South Side Strangler #2? He did not return any calls by the time of this press release, but it has been speculated that he may tag with Strangler #4 or Strangler #6 in coming months. Some have speculated that Strangler #1 may even act as a manager for the new South Side Stranglers during his down-time and form a truly dominant trio of terror.
Has this injury had an effect on Strangler #1's declaration of sobriety? You bet it has. "I fell right off the wagon", exclaimed Strangler #1. "I was dedicated and committed to sobriety, but once I learned I could not wrestle for a period of months, I started to drink again. At first I was drinking because I was depressed and to help kill the pain, but then my doctor informed me that my alcoholism may actually help me in my recovery".
"That's correct", confirmed his doctor. "Mr. Strangler's biceps are torn and he cannot strain his arms that much. To rehabilitate his biceps he must continually be lifting small weights repeatedly throughout the day. Strangler's drinking is allowing him to work out without putting too much of a strain on his torn muscles. I would prefer that he drink non-alcoholic beer, but I dare not make that recommendation to him for fear of being strangled".
In fact, with no wrestling matches in his near future, South Side Strangler #1 jumped on a plane and headed to Ireland to take part in some competitive drinking contests at all the finest watering holes Ireland has to offer. Strangler #1 is committed to his health and has enlisted the assistance of world class drunk Shamus O'Reilly for his rehabilitation training - 16 ounces at a time.
